'Sing On!' will see six amateur singers compete for a $60,000 jackpot

If you're a karaoke fan, no doubt the last few months has meant that you're really missing the opportunity to tipsily grab a microphone and foist your caterwauling upon an unsuspecting bar.

If you're bereft at the idea of no karaoke in your near future, don't worry - a new karaoke-based competition is starting on Netflix next month. In fairness, it's surprising that it's taken this long.

'Sing On!' will be hosted by none other than Tituss Burgess (i.e. Titus from 'The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt') and will see contestants go head-to-head to see who can sing a well-known song best. There are already Spanish and German-language versions of the show.

The prize jackpot is $60,000, but it potentially depletes with each round. Each of the six contestant's progress through each round depends on how well they sing each song (as judged by a 'vocal analyser' that matches their version to the original). Their fellow competitors can also vote strategically to keep in the better singers (and earn more money), or eliminate the competition. There are five rounds, and the final one sees the last two singers duet for the jackpot, or what remains of it.

Dunno about you, but it sounds right up our reality TV-loving street.
