The Strypes are fed up and aren't going to take it anymore, it seems. The Cavan youngsters vented their thoughts on pop mogul Simon Cowell in a recent interview with the Evening Standard, apparently upset at Cowell's perceived manipulation of the music charts.
"It's annoying that he has the power to make artfully unintelligent music huge, and tell everyone that is what you should listen to", said bass player Pete O'Hanlon. "Destroying music isn't funny, okay?"
O'Hanlon isn't the only Strype with these thoughts. Drummer Evan Walsh chimed in: "He's just a wanker. It's the manipulation of naïve young minds as well."
The fourpiece, who are aged between 16 and 18 years old, saw their debut album Snapshot reach #5 in the UK charts and have drawn hype from the likes of Elton John and Dave Grohl but that was apparently not enough to put them in the 10 album shortlist for the Meteor Choice Music Prize.
Don't expect these lads to be doing a guest slot on Britain's Got Talent anytime soon, either.
