Hip Hop legends The Roots have big plans for their upcoming ninth album 'How I Got Over'. Not only have they roped in soul singer John Legend and My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk man Jim James for guest appearances, they're also sampling Joanna Newsom.
The band were clearly impressed with the young freak folkster when she appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where they are the house band. The song The Roots have chosen to sample is 'The Book of Right On' from Newsom's 2004 debut album 'The Milk-Eyed Mender'. Drummer ?uestlove posted the following video of himself mixing the track, which he describes as a 'Joanna Newsom Jawn'. Skip towards the end of the video.
