The Live Music Venue of the Year awards took place last night at the IMRO HQ in Dublin. The Olympia Theatre picked up a trio of awards, winning The IMRO National Live Music Venue of the Year Award and also the Dublin Live Music Venue Award. Electric Picnic was awarded the first ever Music Festival of the Year gong. Other venues recognised for their contribution to the live music scene in Ireland were The Spirit Store in Dundalk, The Roisin Dubh in Galway, The Pavilion in Cork and Iontas Theatre in Monaghan. Readers of Hot Press Magazine voted for two Special Commendation Awards, going to the Tommy Leddy Theatre in Drogheda and the new Workman's Club in Dublin.
