If you're around Dublin on Saturday October 4th and Sunday October 5th, you'd do worse than to head over to the RDS for The Music Show. It's an event that does exactly what it says on the tin - there's live music from 'some of Ireland's hottest acts', including The Blizzards, Cathy Davey, Republic of Loose, The Coronas and Fionn Regan.

There's also a host of music-related workshops, exhibitions, competitions and seminars over the course of the weekend - last year saw Rough Trade supremo Geoff Travis and Smiths producer Stephen Street wax lyrical on their careers, while this year will see the likes of producers Tom McFall and Dave Odlum, and musicians Nick Seymour, Mik Pyro, Gavin Friday and Maria Doyle Kennedy do the same. There'll also be a seminar on rock photography, featuring some of Hot Press's snappers.

It all sounds like a pretty jam-packed weekend. Doors open at 10am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday, and tickets are €5 - €25 and on sale now from usual outlets.
