'White Ladder' clearly still holds a special place in the hearts of many
It was released 20 years ago and remains Ireland's biggest-selling album.
Last night, a documentary aired on RTE last night that shed some light on why David Gray's 'White Ladder' has been so phenomenally successful with Irish audiences.
'David Gray: Ireland's Greatest Hit' featured contributions from the Manchester-born musician, as well as the likes of Marc Almond, Glen Hansard and more.
Given that Gray was due to play three dates at Dublin's 3Arena on his 'White Ladder 20th Anniversary Tour' before current events, it's clear that he still has an ardent Irish fanbase - and many of them tuned in last night.
Many also took to Twitter to share their memories of the album.
See the reaction below:
Up early for work but instead just watched the #whiteladder documentary. Great job @donalscannell, loved it!

@donalscannell That was absolutely brilliant and poignantly timed. @DavidGray is a treasure. One of the best albums ever. Loved looking back at the days before cell phones destroyed gigs and people connected with great music. Thank you. #whiteladder #DavidGray @TheHighKings

Was always too cool for school back in the day to admit liking David Gray. That RTE show though about him and White Ladder was excellent. thing @rte do really well. Really thought the marketing people were asleep at the wheel. If ever a bobble head was needed it was for him. 🤔🤣

Actual cameras, phone boxes, button mobile phones, people queuing to buy music, transistor radios...
