Many touring artists, including Madonna and Green Day, have also cancelled gigs
Following last week's news of the SXSW festival in Texas being cancelled, organisers of the Coachella festival are reportedly discussing moving the event to later in the new amidst the coronavirus panic.
Coachella, which takes place in California, is one of the biggest music festivals in the world and is set to take place across the weekends of April 10th - 12th and April 17th - 19th.
However, organisers are expected to announce either the cancellation or the postponement of the festival to October later today - the outcome dependent on the availability of the headline acts. The country festival Stagecoach, set to take place on the same site from April 24th - 26th, is also potentially being postponed until October.
The coronavirus situation is having an effect on non-festival gigs, too. Some major artists - including Madonna, Pearl Jam and Green Day - have cancelled shows, both in Asia and elsewhere.
So far - apart from the St. Patrick's Day festivals - there have been no culture event cancellations in Ireland, and promoters MCD issued a statement on the matter.
