A tribute album is to be released in honour of 90s Kilkenny rockers Kerbdog. The band had a massive impact on the Irish rock music landscape with their self titled debut album and its follow up 'On The Turn', before splitting in 1998. Entitled 'Pledge: A Tribute to Kerbdog', the album mixes up and coming rock bands with more established acts such as Frank Turner, Jamie Lenman (Reuben) and Dave McPherson (InMe).
The release features sleeve notes from producers Jack Endino and GGGarth Richardson who worked on Kerbdog’s two albums.It also contains notes from Kerbdog's Cormac Battle, Simon Young (Kerrang), Ken McGrath (Rock Sound), Edwin McFee (NME & Alternative Ulster). The album is described as "a tribute to a band that never received the acclaim or attention they deserved".
The album will be launched with a special album release party at The Academy on March 6th. Dutch Shultz, Cars on Fire and Knievel Genius will play at the event, and Kerbdog themselves will be in attendance. Tickets priced €12 are on sale now.
