The pop star's lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to the student running the account
You can find the answer to most things on the internet if you know where to look - including all of the flights that the rich and famous take in their private jets.
In recent times, many high-profile celebrities have been publicly shamed online for taking short journeys in their private jets, with many slamming them for damaging the environment unnecessarily with its CO2 emissions.
Now Taylor Swift has become embroiled in the scandal, after a Florida college student named Jack Sweeney launched a page on X that tracked all of the star's flights. Sweeney was previously responsible for the @elonjet account, which X boss Elon Musk banned, and also runs pages for several other oligarchs and high profile celebrities who have private jets and apparently use them indiscriminately.
Now, however, Swift's lawyers have issued a cease-and-desist letter to Sweeney, claiming the X page is tantamount to stalking and harrassment and that making such information public is is "a life-or-death matter" for Swift.
"While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client," the letter read. "Ms. Swift has dealt with stalkers and other individuals who wish her harm since she was a teenager. Indeed, there are many public cases of individuals who have come to Ms. Swift’s residences, including those armed with weapons and ammunition, and attempted to harm her. This reality has forced our Client to live her life in a constant state of fear for her personal safety. That fear is and has been significantly heightened due to your reckless actions."
The account @taylorswiftjets has been suspended following the letter, but Sweeney responded by saying his "intentions are not to cause harm" and that "one should reasonably expect that their jet will be tracked, whether or not I’m the one doing it, as it is public information after all."
Swift made history on Sunday night at the Grammys, but it seems her victory has been somewhat tainted by this scandal - and as her romance with NFL player Travis Kelce unfolds, her jetsetting lifestyle is unlikely to end anytime soon.
