And Chris Martin even popped in to give him a hand.

Stormzy became the first black British solo artist to headline Glastonbury’s iconic Pyramid Stage last night and he didn’t disappoint the Worthy Farm crowd.

The show opened with a video of Jay-Z giving the British rapper advice for his historic gig.

"Culture moves the world. When you step on that stage, you're going to see it because they are really ready for it,” he said before Stormzy, eh, stormed the stage to open with Know Me From.

"This is the greatest night of my entire life," Stormzy told the crowd, wearing a stab-proof Union Jack vest at one point.

Later in the evening Dave and Fredo were invited on stage to perform their hit Funky Friday, with the grime artist explaining why.

"The reason I invited them here," Stormzy explained, "is that Funky Friday the first pure British rap song to go number one in the UK. Do you understand what that means? That means we've come a long way."

The Love Island fan's set also included covers of Shape of You and Sweet Like Chocolate and his own hits Vossi Bop, Shut Up and Blinded by Your Grace. But the standout moment was a moving version of You Saved Me, surrounded by a gospel choir.

The performance won praise from artists, fans and even politicians.

Janet Jackson and The Killers are performing tonight with coverage starting at 7.30pm on BBC2.
