Let's face it: music is a seriously subjective topic. Many peoples' (ahem) entire friendships are based around those who share our taste in songs, bands and artists – so it stands to reason that any animals in your life should be attuned to that, too.
While this may sound like the ramblings of an insane dog lover, believe it or not, a recent study conducted by the University of Glasgow has discovered that dogs have their own individual taste in music - just like humans do.
The next logical step, of course, is matching people with the dogs that share their taste in music – which is where Spotify comes in.
The streaming service has partnered with a dog adoption centre and agency Serviceplan in Germany to launch 'Adoptify', which tests different playlists on dogs, figures out what kind of music they respond best to, and pairs them with the humans that share their taste. In short, it means that prospective owners can can play all the Nirvana, classical music or Ed Sheeran that you like without wondering if it's annoying their pooch. On second thoughts – forget the latter. That's plain cruel.
