Snoop Dogg is a Johnny Cash fan. Who knew? Well, one of the industry's biggest rap artist is making his affinity to the late great country legend by putting together an album of remixes, as well as lending his vocal talents to a new version of I Walk The Line.
The album, simply titled "Johnny Cash Remixed" features a selection of songs recorded between 1956 and 1959 with Cash's first band The Tennessee Two, remixed by such artists as Alabama 3, Midnight Juggernauts, Apparat, Sonny J and The Heavy.
Before you jump to the conclusion that Cash is turning in his grave as we speak, the project has been fully approved by the Cash Estate, and Cash's son John Carter Cash even acted as co-executive producer alongside Snoop. He said of the project "My father made his stead defying the expected and accepted way of things. He set the standard at the same time. He would have loved this remix record. While it stays true to the original recordings, the CD touches on undiscovered ground. My father was about staying true to tradition while creating groundbreaking music."
