We're pretty impressed with the lack of gig cancellations this week considering the ridiculous weather. I was secretly hoping some of this week's plethora of brilliant gigs (seriously, too many things clashing!) would be scrapped so I could finally attempt to get home to my bed after four nights away from it, but no, the turn out for The National, Janelle Monae and Ellie Goulding the last few nights has been surprisingly healthy. Dublin music fans can't be kept away by a little bit of snow, it seems.

With Dublin airport intermittently functioning, most acts have made in into the country alright, even if that meant being diverted to Shannon and spending all day travelling on icy roads a la The National yesterday.

Smoke Fairies were due to play The Workman's Club on Tuesday (December 7th), and are confident that they will get to Dublin, but have still cancelled the show. Perhaps they haven't sold enough advance tickets in advance and expect a poor turnout. Whatever the reason, the alt-folk duo have decided to play as a support act at Laura Marling's Vicar St show the same night instead. Tickets for the Smoke Fairies show are now valid for Vicar St so this is less of a cancellation and more of a bonus for ticketholders.
