An accolade to celebrate for Nirvana as we enter a new decade
In a world where new music videos have the ability to rack up millions of views within a matter of hours - and have questionable followings - it's humbling to know that the state of more iconic music is still is good hands.
'Smells Like Teen Spirit' from 1991 is one such track, and one which has very recently surpassed a huge viewing figure on YouTube for Nirvana.
Written by the late Kurt Cobain and Foo Fighters' main man Dave Grohl, the music video for 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' has passed the one billion viewing mark, just 10 years after being uploaded onto YouTube.
The track is only the second song from the 90's to reach such a feat, with 'November Rain' from Guns N' Roses having already passed the 1.3 billion figure.
Interestingly for us Irish, The Cranberries classic 'Zombie' from the late Dolores O'Riordan, is poised to reach the billion figure at some point in 2020. Viewing figures for the music video are already climbing to over 980 million hits on the streaming platform.
Here's the Nirvana track for you to rock out to once again on this festive Friday - sure tis the season.
