After two separate concerts last year all will be quiet at Slane Castle this summer after Lord Henry Mountcharles announced this afternoon that Slane will be taking a break in 2014.
The reasoning for the decision, according to Lord Mountcharles, was that an act befitting venue couldn't be found. Idle speculation suggested recently that the likes of AC/DC and Green Day might be among contenders to headline Slane this year but those proved unfounded.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Mountcharles said: "it proved difficult to get acts this year that we really wanted. I've always said if I don't find that I want, I won't go. Slane is a special venue."
Last year's two concerts at Slane featured headline performances from Bon Jovi and Eminem.
Lord Henry announced today at 2.30pm - There will be no concert at Slane this year.
