The 'Christmas album' market is undoubtedly a very profitable one, with many artists going down the route of festive releases - some with more success than others.
Yet amidst the cheese and the terrible tunes, one pop star is planning to shake things up.
It's been revealed that Sia will release a Christmas album this year, after signing a new record deal with Atlantic Records.
She'll write the album of original songs with her regular collaborator Greg Kurstin, the same man who co-wrote and produced most of 'This Is Acting' as well as songs like Adele's 'Hello'.
Atlantic released a statement saying: “Sia is a once-in-a-generation artist. Her extraordinary gifts as a singer and songwriter, her revolutionary approach to the art of performing, her groundbreaking videos – everything she does comes from a deep wellspring of inspiration and imagination. Sia is that rare artist who has formed her own singular, boundless musical universe. We are so happy to welcome her into the Atlantic family and to be joining Sia on her amazing musical journey.”
Can she write a modern Christmas classic, though? We shall see...
