The Bon Jovi guitarist has cited "personal issues" as the reason for pulling out of the remainder of Bon Jovi's current tour.
Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has abruptly left the US rock band's current tour, citing "personal issues" as the reason. A brief statement on the band's website stated: "Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled."
Bon Jovi are currently in the middle of the North American leg of their tour, with Sambora pulling out before a show in Calgary. Jon Bon Jovi donated $100,000 to the Calgary Homeless Foundation to make up for Sambora's absence.
Bon Jovi's upcoming performance at Slane will surely come into question as a result of this news, but Lord Henry Mountcharles remains convinced that Sambora will return to the group in advance of that show on June 15th.
"He is out of the current leg of the tour. The latest news that I have is that he will be back for the summer", Mountcharles told the Irish Independent.
Sambora has had a problem with substance abuse in the past but US gossip site TMZ alleges that the reason for Sambora's sudden departure from the group is a result of long-term in-fighting between him and Jon Bon Jovi. Sambora is said to have been drug free for some time now.
