Radiohead yesterday released their first song since 'In Rainbows', and it's a tribute to British World War I veteran Harry Patch.  Patch was the last surviving soldier to have fought in the Great War, before he passed away on July 25th aged 111.

Thom Yorke made a blog posting explaining his reasons for writing and releasing the song. 'The way he talked about war had a profound effect on me. It became the inspiration for a song that we happened to record a few weeks before his death.' The song, entitled simply 'Harry Patch (In Memory Of)', is available from the band's online store, download.waste.co.uk, with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.

Yorke also commended Patch for not allowing us to forget 'the true horror of war' and finished his post with a quite from the veteran.
' irrespective of the uniforms we wore, we were all victims'.
