Radiohead, Faithless and Kate Nash manager Brian Message, and his company ATC, have teamed up with artist and music management company's MAMA and Nettwork to launch a new record label which will surely be an outlet for Message's pioneering ideas for music distribution.
The new label, Polyphonic, will focus on digitally releasing music, and it's likely that they'll offer similar schemes to that of Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' innovative 'pay what you like' scheme. Co-chief executive of MAMA Adam Driscoll said, "We will do whatever is most effective to get an artist noticed. Giving an album away for free may get one million people listening to a new artist."
The best news for Polyphonic artists is that they'll get to keep their own copyright, as well as up to 50% of profits from their releases with the label, with established artists earning even more.
