Having just received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to music, electro-pop duo, the Pet Shop Boys are now working on a ballet, which will be unveiled in London in 2011.

As so many ballets are, the work has been inspired by a fairytale, in this case by Hans Christian Anderson. Becoming a blend of classical and Pet Shop Boy styles, it will feature both "electronics and strings" and has been described as "a big project" by frontman Neil Tennant.

Tennant told the BBC that they have written about half an hour of the show so far and will be working on it across the year, in between touring.

The Pet Shop Boys new album, Yes, is due for release on March 23rd
