A countdown on Pearl Jam's official website has reached zero and revealed news that one of grunge music's longest surviving bands will release their tenth studio album, Lightning Bolt, on October 15th.
As well as that, Pearl Jam unveiled their newest song and (presumably) lead single from the album, 'Mind Your Manners'. The song is a stomping rock number and firmly shows that Eddie Vedder's trademark growl hasn't diminished with age.
Lightning Bolt was recorded by frequent collaborator Brendan O'Brien, one of rock music's most defining producers, and the album is Pearl Jam's first since 2009's less-than-entralling Backspacer.
The band also announced a 24 date US tour yesterday. No word yet on anything being scheduled for Europe but I think it's reasonable to suggest that Pearl Jam will play a date in The O2 before the start of next summer.
