Harry Crosbie, the owner of Vicar Street, has explained how the idea of a Paul McCartney gig all came about.

He told the Sunday World, "I met his daughter Stella McCartney and Jools Holland at a party in our artist friend’s London home. We discussed The Beatles connection with Dublin and also the homeless situation in Ireland and the possibility of Paul doing a gig at Vicar Street with all proceeds going to help people on the streets."

Crosbie then contacted McCartney. The venue owner had recently unveiled a plaque that commemorated the two concerts The Beatles played in the Adelphi Cinema on Middle Abbey Street in November 1963. He continues, "I sent him a photo of the plaque and I got an answer back saying he was absolutely delighted.

"He came back to me and said that Vicar Street is top of the list for the next one." There's been no date set for the gig as of yet, but finger's crossed it happens soon.

If the gig does get an official confirmation, it'll be the first time McCartney has played in Ireland for nearly 10 years. The rocker is currently touring around Europe, so the gig might happen sooner rather than later.

McCartney's most recent Instagram post is of wishing his American fans a Happy Thanksgiving. He'll be embarking on his American leg of the tour next summer.
