The Prince Of Darkness teamed up with Black Sabbath for 'Paranoid' and 'Iron Man'

Ozzy Osbourne has graced the world with some iconic tracks from his Black Sabbath days and his solo career, and the rocker turned back the clock at last night's Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.

The games, held in Osbourne's hometown of Birmingham, were closed out by a surprise appearance from Black Sabbath, and the unexpected showing from the iconic metal band brought the crowd to their feet.

Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iomni were joined by the touring members from Black Sabbath's 2017 farewell tour, drummer Tommy Clufetos and bassist Adam Wakeman.

Black Sabbath officially called it quits in 2017 after 50 remarkable years, with the band's last official show taking place in their home city of Birmingham, but the call of the Commonwealth Games in their home city proved too strong an offer for Ozzy and friends to turn down.

The crowd were treated to shortened renditions of their hits 'Paranoid' and 'Iron Man', and Osbourne was in top flight as he belted out the hits, marking his first show since 2019.

"I love you, Birmingham - it's good to be back!" he roared in typical Ozzy fashion as he rose up through the stage to round off the closing ceremony.

The metal legend recently underwent "life-changing surgery" which has caused him to curtail his planned farewell tour.

The Dublin leg of the tour has been postponed numerous times, with a date of June 10th, 2023, penciled in, which is subject to change.

Osbourne was also diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2019, but is still recording music, even scoring a chart hit that same year after being featured on Post Malone's track 'Take What You Want'.

The rock icon is gearing up for the release of his new album, 'Patient Number 9', which follows up from 2020's 'Ordinary Man'.

'Ordinary Man' saw the likes of Post Malone, Elton John, Chad Smith, Tom Morello and Duff McKagan team up with the singer to deliver his most commercially successful album in over 30 years.
