Potential Electric Picnickers will be given their first glimpse at how this summer's centrepiece of the Irish summer festival calendar is shaping up when the initial line-up announcement is made at noon on Wednesday.

But who can you expect to see on the bill? Rumours are rampant, as you might expect, with the annual Radiohead rumour once again rearing its head (hint: they won't play Electric Picnic) but there are a few more realistic bands being touted. We're not "in the know", so to speak, but we have a few sneaking suspicions on who you might get to see in a field in Co. Laois at the tail end of the summer.

WHO'S GONNA HEADLINE?

You can almost certainly expect to see Outkast on the bill for EP14. The newly reformed duo are playing a slew of festival dates this summer and will definitely be in the neighbourhood, given that they're set to headline Bestival in the weekend after Electric Picnic. If these guys aren't on the line-up we'll eat our hats. Queens of the Stone Age are another band heavily linked with taking a main event slot at EP, as are Portishead, but one of the more unsubstantiated rumours we've come across today relates to a certain Mr. Chris Martin and his band Coldplay. Maybe you've heard of them? They're sort of like an English Kodaline. But we'd be a little taken aback to see them on the bill. Which probably means that the rumours are true.

Another route would be to snag Chic feat. Nile Rodgers which would be a hell of a lot o' fun, even if everyone's already caught their (admittedly hugely enjoyable) show already at EP, Longitude or elsewhere. They'll be in the UK though and are available and it looks like their official website might have given a hint that they're playing.

THE LIKELY LADS

Based upon touring schedules and timing of releases and other such nonsense, we'd happily put a modest wager on the likes of Jake Bugg, Bombay Bicycle Club, Beck and London Grammar showing up at Electric Picnic. EP organisers are also pretty fond of booking a heritage act or two, as fans of Sex Pistols and Robert Plant will attest to at recent Picnics, so you could well find yourself watching The Wailers who have been touring 'Legend' in recent months and that's something which EP would be happy to get their mitts on. Or how about a bit of Manic Street Preachers? Or Busta Rhymes? This could all happen.

THE POSSIBLES

Bombay Bicycle Club would suit the Picnic crowd, as would the likes of SBTRKT, Metronomy and Chvrches. Sam Smith, Jon Hopjkins and Bastille might be more of a Longitude/Oxegen act but we wouldn't be shocked to see them included in tomorrow's announcement.

THE IRISH

Dublin Gospel Choir will play, as they do every year. The Minutes will be armed with a new record this summer so you won't be able to keep them away from the festival trail. James Vincent McMorrow would have been a nice coup but he's signed up for Longitude and we don't expect he'll be pulling double duty. Le Galaxie are in that very same boat, too. O Emperor are one who could be in with a shout, or The Strypes.
