Were they due to play the London stadium next month?

It's been one of the most contentious debates in the history of modern indie music - will Oasis ever get back together?

It seems as though Liam has been well up for reuniting with his older brother in recent years - suggesting back in February that an offer had been made - but if reports are to be believed, Noel is the one that has been holding out.

However, over the weekend reports suggested that the Britpop titans had been very close to getting back together this year - and that they planned a three-night stand at London's Wembley Stadium on July 8th, 9th and 10th before it fell through.

A 'source' told the Daily Mirror: "An Oasis reunion has been hoped for for years. This year would have been the big moment, 30 years on from their debut album Definitely Maybe. Until now, no one has known how close Liam and Noel came to making it a reality. It doesn’t get much closer than booking Wembley, and their teams were devastated when it all collapsed yet again."

"But the fact they made it to that point shows there’s a will on both sides. The hope is it will be a case of not if, but when."

When a fan asked Liam about the report yesterday, however, he was characteristically non-committal:

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of '(What's the Story) Morning Glory', so there's still some hope - but in the meantime, Liam is touring 'Definitely Maybe', with the second of two Dublin dates tonight at the 3Arena, and further dates in Limerick and Belfast over the summer.
