The Northern Boys' debut single 'Party Time' has gone viral

If you haven't heard of The Northern Boys yet, you probably won't have seen the video that has gone viral in recent days.

'Party Time' is one of the darkest yet funniest songs we've heard in a long time, and the accompanying video is a work of art.

First of all, who are The Northern Boys? They're an unlikely new hip-hop trio comprised of Norman Pain, Patrick Karneigh Jr. and Kevin (who is the dancer, a la Bez) - and according to Rolling Stone, they're retired teachers from the UK who met decades ago and have now decided to start a new career together in what they describe as 'disco death rap' - although they have previously released work separately.

Their debut single 'Party Time' - set over a backing track of Estelle and Kanye West's 'American Boy', and with a video set in a Birmingham park - is as self-deprecating and black-humoured as it comes. Lines include: "I got a wife at home and she hates me / I sleep outside 'cos she makes me" and "I'm a troubled soul, I live in a studio flat that's covered in mould / Come outside just to shout at strangers / Then I crawl in a hole like an ugly mole", while the chorus is dubious but definitely catchy: "It's party time, get your drugs out / If you wanna make love, get your muffs out / It's party time, get your drugs out / Do you wanna make love to a sad old man?"

That's just the tip of the iceberg - be warned, this song is NSFW!

However, it's also downright hilarious.
