The rocker was taken into care over the weekend

Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones is to undergo heart surgery this week.

75 year old Mick Jagger will have surgery later this week, to replace one of the valves in his heart, confirms Rolling Stone Magazine. This will mean that all of the rock band's North American dates from April 20th to July 29th may be in doubt of going ahead, depending on how speedy Jagger's recovery takes.

It is reported that Jagger's surgery will take place this Friday in New York, and he is thought to make a full recovery. Jagger initially broke the news on Twitter over the weekend, telling fans "I'm devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can."

Fellow Rolling Stones members Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards have wished their bandmate well, saying "We'll miss you over the next few weeks" and "Mick, we are always there for you!"

Here's hoping that legend Mick Jagger makes a full recovery. Here are the Rolling Stones with 'Start Me Up', to get that ticker going once again.
