The nominations are in for the 2014 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and this year's list sees the likes of Nirvana, Kiss, the Replacements, Chic and N.W.A. all being tipped for the honour.

Others nominations for next year's induction include Hall and Oates, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, Link Wray, The Meters, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Yes and The Zombies. Those acts who top the vote will be inducted to the Hall of Fame in April in New York City.

The public gets to vote for the class of 2014, alongside music industry insiders, and you can do so on RollingStone.com. The top five acts when public voting closes will be added as a "fan's ballot" and will be added to the more than 600 other ballots which will be cast.

Eligibility for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is determined by when artists or band's released their first single or album which, in this case, must be 1988 or earlier. This marks the first year that Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, The Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, Cat Stevens, Yes and The Zombies have been nominated - although Peter Gabriel already has a HOF induction thanks to his time spent with Genesis.

Nirvana are the only act on this year's list to be added on their very first year of eligibility, as their first single 'Love Buzz' was released towards the end of 1988 and they look set to join the very exclusive club of bands who've been inducted to the Hall of Fame at the earlier possible opportunity.
