The legendary musician originally left the platform in a protest against Joe Rogan
Neil Young took a stand two years ago by removing his music from Spotify in protest at the company's deal with Joe Rogan - but now the iconic musician has been forced to admit defeat.
Young had returned his back catalogue to the streaming giant after Rogan also struck a deal with Amazon and Apple for his podcast - which Young had accused of spreading misinformation about the Covid vaccine.
Young had originally removed his music from Spotify after Rogan's exclusive deal for his 'The Joe Rogan Experience' podcast - which caused controversy in 2021 after Rogan said "If you’re like 21 years old, and you say to me, ‘Should I get vaccinated?’ I’ll go, no."
Young responded by accusing Spotify and Rogan of "spreading fake information about vaccines" and thereby "potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them".
“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform," he said in a now-deleted message on his website. "They can have Rogan or Young. Not both."
Now, in a new message on his website titled 'My Return To Low Res Spotify', which is a dig at the sound quality on the streaming platform, he told fans: "Music services Apple and Amazon have started serving the same disinformation podcast I had opposed at Spotify.
"I cannot leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned."
