Mumford & Sons have equalled a long-standing US chat record held by The Beatles by placing six songs concurrently in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They are the first band to do so since John, Paul, George and Ringo managed the same feat on September 19th 1964.
All six of the tracks are on the band's second album Babel - 'I Will Wait', 'Babel', 'Lover's Eyes', 'Whispers In The Dark', 'Holland Road' and 'Ghosts That We Knew'.
Mumford & Sons released all 12 tracks from Babel online via various streaming services. The On-Demand charts currently have 'I Will Wait' on over 550,000 online listens. In fact, the entire album has been performing incredibly well in the charts having recently overtaken Justin Bieber's Believe as the biggest selling record of 2012 shifting well over 600,000 units worldwide so far.
Say what you will about their brand of rousing folk/pop but it's hard to deny that Mumford & Sons are one of the biggest acts in the world right now.
The band will play the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on 15th December and Dublin's O2 the following night on December 16th.
