Having recently released their first ever full live DVD and album in 'Burning' and 'Special Moves', Mogwai announced details of their latest studio album some weeks ago.
The Scottish post-rockers are to release 'Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will' on February 11th 2011, the follow up to 2008's 'The Hawk Is Howling'. Produced by 'Young Team' producer and drummer Paul Savage, the album's title was reportedly inspired by Scottish scumbags. Speaking to NME, Stuart Braithwaite said, "A friend of James Hamilton – the drummer from Errors – heard a 'ned' say it. A chav is what I suppose you would call a 'ned' in England. Anyway, he apparently just came out with it and said it to a shopkeeper who wouldn't sell him wine because he was too young."
Ahead of the album, the band will released a new 7" single 'Rano Pano' on January 14th. In the meantime, they're offering the track as a free download in return for your email address.
To coincide with the album's release Mogwai will play Belfast's Mandela Hall on February 13th, Galway's Radisson Blu on February 14th and Dublin's Olympia Theatre on February 15th. Visit our gig listings for more details.
