'MTV Unplugged' made a comeback last night, with Miley Cyrus performing a number of covers for the programme.
You might recall that once upon a time, MTV used to play music and had a hit show called 'Unplugged' that saw contemporary artists perform live music with acoustic instruments.
The likes of Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Lauryn Hill, and many others performed their songs, some covers, and just generally were great on stage without all the accoutrements they were used to. Well, Miley Cyrus brought back 'Unplugged' for a new generation last night.
The big breakout moment of the show, however, came when Miley Cyrus strode out to perform Britney Spears' 2007 hit, 'Gimme More', with a full band and a country-infused take. "In my sets, I cover Britney Spears to Metallica, so my (upcoming album) will be reflective of who I am. Which is just kind of all different pieces of inspiration and influence," Cyrus explained.
It wasn't the only cover performed on the night, either. Cyrus also sang one of Pearl Jam's lesser-known hit, 'Just Breathe', and the 1967 one-hit wonder, 'These Days' by Nico. That's the song from 'The Royal Tenenbaums' when Richie sees Margot for the first time in years.
Anyway, Miley's cover of 'Gimme More' seems to have gone down a hit with fans.
Take a look and see for yourself.
