As previously rumoured, Kevin Barnes (lead singer with Of Montreal) and Andrew VanWyngarden (of MGMT) are teaming up to form a new band called Blikk Fang.
Barnes told Rolling Stone last week that he was planning to release a Blikk Fang album in 2009, and was hoping to get LA producer Jon Brion to record the sessions soon.
"We've actually created about 20 minutes of music," he said. "We've both been travelling like crazy so it's hard to get together. It's kind of fun because that stuff we did months and months ago and when we get together again, we'll have different ideas that we're excited about. It's probably gonna be a pretty schizophrenic, crazy album."
In the meantime, Of Montreal play two Irish dates next month - Belfast's Stiff Kitten on January 27th, and Dublin's Button Factory on the 28th.
