Jessie Buckley got the nod for her collaboration with Bernard Butler
The nominees for the Mercury Prize were announced earlier this week.
As you may know, the prize is awarded to the Best UK and Irish album of the Year, and there have been multiple Irish nominees in the past - including Villagers, SOAK and Lisa Hannigan - although no Irish winners.
That may cchange this year, however, as Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler's collaborative album 'For All Our Days That Tear the Heart' has been nominated.
Kerry native Buckley, of course, is an actress best known for her roles in 'Wild Rose' and the recent 'Men', as well as TV roles in 'Fargo', 'The Woman in White', 'Chernobyl' and more.
Butler, meanwhile, is knwon for his brief tenure in Britpop band Suede, his collaboration with David McAlmont in McAlmont & Butler, and as a producer of note. Both of his parents are also Irish.
They'll go head-to-head with the likes of Harry Styles, Sam Fender, Lil Simz, Wet Leg and more.
