We can't fake a surprise anymore
Proving once again that Christmas can be the most lucrative time of the year (if you have a hit song, that is), the Queen of Christmas has announced a brand new track for holiday season 2021.
Whether you like it or not, those Christmas bells are a-jingling. Continuing to drop tidbits of holiday cheer this first week of November, Mariah Carey has announced a new Christmas song called 'Fall In Love At Christmas'.
A collaboration between singer Khalid and also choir director and gospel singer Kirk Franklin, the track sounds like it will be a ballad, making it a change of pace for the Christmas hit-maker this year.
You can listen to a 30-second snippet of the song below, which will be released this Friday, November 5.
Mariah Carey and her new Christmas song tease arrives a day after the pop star marked her official entrance into the Christmas build-up period with another elaborate video. This year, she smashed some pumpkins with a candy cane baseball bat before her 1994 classic 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' blared for everyone to hear. It's officially the beginning of the most expensive time of the year.
Last year, Carey released a new Christmas album in line with her Apple TV+ feature, 'Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special'. The album featured new collaborations of some of her previous Christmas releases, featuring artists such as Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and Snoop Dogg.
New Carey collaborator Khalid, who is a multi-Grammy Award nominee, is set to release his third studio album ''Everything Is Changing' in the near future. The lead single 'New Normal' was released in July.
2021 has become awash with artists hoping to capitalise on the festive cheer and have their song become a Christmas classic that will be played for years to come. Among those who have festive album releases this year are Gary Barlow, Norah Jones and Kelly Clarkson.
