'Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special' is on the way
It's officially September, so all bets are off when it comes to mentioning the 'C' word. Sorry.
Yes, Christmas is creeping ever closer - but as crap a year as 2020 has been for many music aficionados, at least pop fans have something to look forward to this year.
Mariah Carey, who is releasing both her memoir and her rarities collection in the coming weeks, has just announced that she's doing a Christmas special for Apple TV+, called Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special.
Of course, 'All I Want for Christmas' - which only reached number one on the US Billboard Charts for the first time last year, over two decades since its release - is one of the great modern Christmas tunes, so it'll be interesting to see what else Carey has up her sleeve.
The special will be produced by the same company behind John Legend's 2018 special 'A Legendary Christmas'.
One guest that we won't be seeing on the special, however, is Ellen DeGeneres.
The comedian and talk show host continues to be rocked by behind-the-scenes revelations at her show, and now Mariah herself has weighed in on the debate.
She has revealed that her appearance on the show in 2008 - when Ellen essentially forced her to confirm her pregnancy after repeatedly offering her champagne - made her 'extremely uncomfortable'.
"I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say," she told Vulture in a new interview. "And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath."
Carey later suffered a miscarriage before welcoming twins Moroccan and Monroe in 2011.
