Manic Street Preachers are to release an album featuring lyrics written by ex-member Richey Edwards.

Edwards, who was the band's guitarist, has been missing since 1995. His family had the option to declare him legally dead in 2002, but chose to keep his missing person status open. The Welsh band still pay 25% of royalties into an account for Edwards, should he ever turn up again.

They also confirmed that they are working on their new album, tentatively-titled 'Journal for Plagued Lovers', with producer Steve Albini.

"We've had these lyrics for 14 years and we all felt compelled that this was the right time to do it," Nicky Wire (bass) said. "It's a follow-up to 'The Holy Bible' in a lot of ways. There's a small amount of editing involved, because some of them are prose and they needed to be made into lyrics, but they're all Richey's."
