In any boyband, there are always going to be one or two members who are fan favourites and hog the limelight 90% of the time.
In One Direction, that person was undoubtedly Harry Styles, although Zayn Malik ran him a close second before he threw in the towel.
But that begs the question, which of the other three - Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson - were the least exciting/memorable/popular ones? According to the latter, it was himself.
In a new interview with The Guardian, Tomlinson said that he was 'forgettable, to a certain degree', in comparison to his bandmates. "The others have always been… Like Niall, for example," he said. "He’s the most lovely guy in the world. Happy-go-lucky Irish, no sense of arrogance. And he’s fearless. There are times I’ve thought: ‘I’d have a bit of that.’ Zayn, back in the day. He could relate to me on a nerves level. In the first year we were both the least confident. But Zayn has a fantastic voice and for him it was always about owning that. Liam always had a good stage presence, same as Harry, they’ve both got that ownership. Harry comes across very cool. Liam’s all about getting the crowd going, doing a bit of dancing…And then there’s me.”
Nevertheless, Tomlinson has done alright since leaving the band, with his first offering outside of the group - 'Just Hold On' with Steve Aoki - doing reasonably well around the world. He's now preparing for the release of his debut solo single proper, 'Back to You', which doesn't have a release date yet.
