The first song to hit a BILLION streams on Spotify has just been revealed, and it's one that most people will be familiar with, considering it's not too old.
Although Drake's album 'Views' has been pretty successful on the whole, certain songs taken from it have proved infinitely more successful - and one of them, 'One Dance', has been the Toronto rapper's biggest hit to date. Considering it was already named the service's most-streamed song ever earlier this year, it was on course to hit a billion.
The song has officially been streamed a billion times since its release earlier this year, making it Spotify's most popular song of 2016 and indeed, ever. We'd love to know how much that actually adds up in terms of revenue. If Spotify pay between $0.006 and $0.0084 per stream, that means an earning of between $6 million (€5.7 million) and $8.4 million (€8.08) before cuts are taken for label, publishing, etc.
In other words, who says you can't make money from Spotify? All you need is a billion streams...
