The word 'legend' is bandied about a lot nowadays but rarely could it be more appropriately used than to describe Tony Bennett, who has just announced a date in Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre on 12th September next.
The crooner, whose music career spans over six decades, has a list of achievements unparalleled by almost anyone else actively touring today, including seventeen Grammy Awards and dozens of platinum and gold albums to his credit. His signature tunes, such as 'Steppin'’ Out With My Baby' and 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' form part of the fabric of American music culture.
Bennett also hold the dubious honour of being the last musician to ever record a track with Amy Winehouse, as their cover of 'Body and Soul' for Bennett's Duets II album was the last time Winehouse was ever in a recording studio prior to hear death in 2011.
Tickets for the show go on sale Friday 16 May at 9.00am.
