Following the departure of guitarist John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, rumours that Josh Klinghoffer would take his place have now been confirmed.

Kilnghoffer began recording with the Chilis a number of days before Frusciante officially revealed his departure in December. According to musicradar.com, Kilnghoffer confirmed the news in an email to the previous owner of his website.

Klinghoffer had previously joined the Chili Peppers on their 2007 Stadium Arcadium tour, and also features on Frusciante's 2009 solo album The Empyrean. The Chili Peppers have yet to release an official statement about the line up change but are set to play at the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year gala dedicated to Neil Young.
