The Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototypes were created for the rapper and sold at auction for €1.4 million
You may have spent your teenage years saving your pocket money for the newest trendy trainers - but your paper round money wouldn't make a dent in these.
London-based auction house Sotheby's have just sold what they are claiming is the most expensive pair of trainers ever - no surprise when you consider they were originally owned by (and made for) none other than Kanye West.
The rapper, who has made a fortune by building his fashion and footwear empire, wore the size 12 Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototypes to the 2008 Grammy Awards, where he performed two songs.
They were designed by West and Mark Smith of Nike, and were made in 2007. They are the prototype of the famous Yeezy trainer that became hugely popular since they were launched in 2009.
Trainer collector Ryan Chang sold them (via Sotheby's) to investment company Rares for a whopping $1.8 million (€1.49 million).
