X Factor makes millions from molding someone with enough desire to be on stage into a star, albeit a five-seconds-of-fame one in many cases. When it came to Jedward, they saw a good gimmick and ran with it. Since then the twins have rode a wave of financial success and garnered an inconceivable amount of fans due to their good work eithic, bouncy (literally and figuratively) personalities and big hair. Trademarking in true star style the duo have gone by the amalgamated name Jedward since day one of their career, but that is all about to come to an end as the twins set out to redefine themselves as more mature artists...
Marking the change in their career the two performers have gone for a name change, or rather are reverting back to their actual names John and Edward. One insider stated 'To quote Louis Walsh all that jumping around was starting to look stupid'. The duo will be instructed to pick up the boyband slack now that Westlife is no longer on the scene. The covers they are known for, such as Ghostbusters, will be dropped from the playlist in favour of Westlife's Home, Hero by Enrique Iglesias, Plain White T's hit Hey There Delilah and Little Things, a One Direction song written by fellow popstar of the moment Ed-Sheeran. To top off the change in musical direction, John will play the acoustic guitar.
All this happens as the boys turn twenty two and aim to veer towards a more adult and mature market, while still retaining the fans they have. 'Jedward remain massively popular around the world. They have never been fashionable but what they have always had is a loyal fan base with 750,000 followers on Twitter who want to stay with them,' one management source stated.
This summer the new and hopefully improved John and Edward act will return to the UK for a series of live shows before heading off to tour Australia this November to perform for the dedicated expats far from home and missing just about everything it offers. Fans and onlookers alike will have to wait to see if they are taken more seriously followng their updated profiles. Buy tickets here to see the new John and Edward live.
