The fifth anniversary of Levon Helm, the legendary drummer with The Band, will be celebrated in Dublin later this month with a special charity gig.
Actor Patrick Bergin will be joined at The Sugar Club on Saturday, April 22nd by a number of Irish bands and musicians, including Bronagh Gallagher, Gavin Glass, Square Pegs (featuring Graham Hopkins (The Frames) and Colm Quearney (ex-Lir), The Eskies, The Group (Last Waltz Tribute Act), The Mary Stokes Band, The Straw Hall House Band (formerly Rag Mama Rag), Skinny Elvis and some very special guests to be announced.
Each act will perform music from all stages of Levon’s career, from early act The Hawks (with Ronnie Hawkins) through to his final solo output, and the live music will be followed by a DJ set by Karl Tsigdinos.
MC on the night is Cathal Murray and all proceeds, as always, will go to the Irish Cancer Society.
