The spread of Covid-19 has led to some speculation that public gatherings may be curbed in the coming months

If you've got a ticket for a gig over the next few months, you may well be wondering whether you'll get to attend it.

The rapid spread of coronavirus has led to speculation that public gatherings may be seriously curbed in the coming months, as they have in countries like Italy and China.

Whether that happens or not in Ireland remains to be seen.

We contacted Ireland's biggest concert promoters MCD - who are responsible for some of the country's biggest gigs and festivals, including Longitude - and they said:

"All shows and events are going ahead as planned. Like all sectors of the Irish business community and the wider general public throughout Ireland, we are continuing to monitor and implement the recommendations of the Government’s Department of Health and HSE (Health Service Executive)."

entertainment.ie has also contacted reps for Electric Picnic as well as Aiken Promotions (who run festivals like Live at the Iveagh Gardens and the Vodafone Comedy Festival) and are awaiting a response.

The Electric Picnic line-up is set to be unveiled this Wednesday.
