There are absolutely no surprises here

It was a big year for George Ezra, Dua Lipa, and movie soundtracks.

The official list of Ireland's top 40 biggest songs and albums of 2018 have been revealed. The figures are based on all formats, from physical sales, to digital streaming and downloads.

In at number one in the top 40 Irish singles chart is George Ezra with 'Shotgun,' which was also Ireland's hit of the summer. Number two is Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa with 'One Kiss'. Rounding out the top five are Drake with 'God's Plan,' Rudimental with 'These Days' and Dua Lipa again, in at number five with 'IDGAF.'

Dua Lipa features in the top 40 three times, with 2017's hit 'New Rules' remaining in the chart at number 28. Essex singer Anne-Marie also had a strong Irish following in 2018, with two of her songs entering the top 40 at number six ('2002') and number eight ('Friends').

In terms of album sales, movie soundtracks took over our lives in 2018.

'The Greatest Showman' soundtrack has managed to top the chart, massively edging out runner-up soundtrack 'A Star Is Born.' The number one enjoyed a combined 64,400 in sales, while Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's effort secured 37,000 combined sales.

Other non-soundtrack albums that sat well with Irish audiences last year include Ed Sheeran's 2017 album 'Divide' in at number three; George Ezra's 'Staying At Tamara's' in at number four; and Post Malone's 'Beerbongs & Bentleys' completing the top five.

The 'Momma Mia: Here We Go Again' soundtrack also faired well, nabbing the number six spot, and its previous entry 'Momma Mia' coming in at number 32 in the chart.

In terms of Irish artists, Picture This came in at number seven, while Christy Moore (14), Cranberries (21), Niall Horan (22), Kodaline (31), and Hozier (33) all made appearances.
