I dunno about you, but I blame Zayn Malik. That or Simon Cowell for (allegedly) touring them into the ground. That or they're just actually due a break given they've been globetrotting relentlessly for what seems like all eternity.
Sources speaking with The Sun reckon said break could be as long as a year: "The band are to go on a break after promoting the fifth album next year, possibly with a number of live tour dates around the world. Simon Cowell is supportive of what they need to do because he wants the band to stay together in some form for a very long time. They have been working non-stop for five years, sold millions of albums and become some of the biggest celebrities in the world. At some point they have to take time off to step back and consider what they want to do next. What’s almost certain is there will be no 1D music next year. The reality is that once a boyband takes a break, it’s often the beginning of the end. They’re adults now and have their own interests."
According to The Mirror: "Their upcoming fifth album and tour could be the last they will hear of the four-piece for at least 12 months. Harry Styles, 21, is reported to be keen to record a solo album. And bandmate Louis Tomlinson, 23, is understood to be keen to fulfill his dream of becoming an X Factor judge."
Presumably Niall is going to spend his time trying not to fall over while caddying for Rory McIlroy, while also trying to date every female on the planet under the age of 25.
I feel like we're forgetting someone...
A source told The Mirror: "The band are to go on a break after promoting the fifth album next year, possibly with a number of live tour dates around the world."
While an arbitrary spokesperson for the band tried poo-pooing the rumours as "pure speculation and not based on any facts. The band are excited about their brand new fifth album and their upcoming tour."
Zayn, meanwhile, is looking forward to kicking up his heels at V Festival, like a "normal" 22-year-old. According to OK!: "Zayn has asked to come to the Louder Lounge but is worried about security. He's asked to build an extra fence for him but we're not sure we can do that. We have offered him his own area in the Louder Lounge though if the attention gets too much."
