David Byrne has teamed up with New York band Dirty Projectors to record a new track for a charity album.
'Dark Was the Night' features 31 exclusive tracks from the likes of Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, Gillian Welch & Conor Oberst, Iron & Wine and Kevin Drew, and is in aid of the Red Hot Organisation - a charity that raises money and awareness for HIV and AIDS.
The Byrne and Dirty Projectors collaboration is called 'Knotty Pine', and can be heard here now.
An exclusive track from the album will also be streamed at the MySpace page every day for the next month.
The album was produced by Bryce and Aaron Dessner of The National, and will be released as a double CD/triple vinyl/download on February 17th.
