Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has enlisted Frames and Swell Season frontman Glen Hansard as well as Cat Power mastermind Chan Marshall for guest appearances on his upcoming new solo album 'Ukulele Songs'.
'Ukulele Songs' will be Vedder's second solo effort after writing the soundtrack for the Emile Hersch starring 2007 film 'Into The Wild'. It is a sixteen track collection of both covers and original songs performed on the ukulele.
Hansard lends his voice to a version of the Everly Brothers 'Sleepless Nights', while Marshall's sultry tones can be heard on 'Tonight You Belong To Me'. The album also contains a new take on the Pearl Jam track 'Can't Keep', originally released on the 2002 album 'Riot Act'.
'Ukulele Songs' will hit shelves on May 27th, the same day as a new live DVD entitled 'Water On The Road'. The concert film was recorded during two solo shows in Washington D.C. in 2008 and features solo renditions of Pearl Jam tracks, songs from 'Into The Wild', as well as some ukulele numbers.
