Time to dust off those dancin' shoes as a whole slew of brand new gig announcements have arrived in our inbox, courtesy of our friends over at MCD

First on the list is Brian Jonestown Massacre, who will play set up shop in The Academy on the 9th of July next. Named in tribute to the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and his influence in introducing Eastern culture and music into the world of Western rock & roll, the Brian Jonestown Massacre formed in San Francisco, CA, in 1990. Over the course of the following years upwards of 40 band members have come and gone but enigmatic band leader Anton Newcombe remains firmly at the helm. In late 2010, Newcombe found premises in Berlin and proceeded to work on building his studio . The band released worldwide a 2CD compilation of their single releases in August 2011. In 2012 , the band released their 13th full length album "Aufheben" with tours in Australia , the USA & Europe. An extensive tour of mainland Europe to include the bands first ever dates in Warsaw, Prague and Athens is also to support their 14th full length album ‘Revelation’ which will be released on 5th May worldwide. New Jersey’s Real Estate will play a headline show at The Workman’s Club on May 27th. Atlas, the band's third album, arrives through Domino on March 3rd 2014 and it's said to be "a triumph of highly evocative, perceptive songwriting and graceful, precise musicianship". Atlas will be released on March 3rd 2014 and then you can witness the music in a live setting in the Workman's Club for just €15. Boom!

 

Limerick based M O S C O W M E T R O will play The Academy 2 on April 10th. The fourpiece are due to release their EP ‘Spirit of A City’ on 11th April 2014. Described as post punk revival/shoe gaze, M O S C O W M E T R O’s music deals with the subjects we don’t talk about, the things we bury deep. Their aspiration when song writing is to connect to these subjects and try to release them. Taking inspiration from every aspect of life including films, writers, art; the band’s influences are diverse, from The National to Blade Runner, Walt Whitman to The Cure. Eels have announced a second Dublin date at The Olympia Theatre on July 1st & 2nd 2014 to celebrate the release of their new album The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett - the 11th full-length release for EELS, whose debut Beautiful Freak was released in 1996. In addition to the recordings, Everett has embarked on a number of non-musical projects as well including his acclaimed book Things the Grandchildren Should Know and the multiple-award winning Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives documentary film about Everett and his quantum physicist father, Hugh Everett III, broadcast on the BBC. Tickets priced from €33.50 inclusive of booking fee are on sale now.

 

Singer-songwriter guitarist performer Eli "Paperboy" Reed has announced he will play Whelan's on Thursday 24th of April. Reed will release his highly anticipated debut album 'Nights Like This', which Reed produced with his guitarist and longtime collaborator Ryan Spraker, on Warner Bros Records this April. represents a sonic evolution beyond the singer's soulful roots, taking his affinity for classic R&B and blending it with the ebullience of modern pop music. Sounds promising, no? Tix for the show are set at €16.50.
